Following 18 years' teaching experience in the secondary sector in Manchester and Dudley, Gina joined the local authority's advisory service in a part time capacity before moving to
work in Sandwell as part of the Active Schools Team, where she worked across all phases supporting physical education, health and sport. Gina also had responsibility for health and safety and off site visits. In 2000 Gina moved to a part time role for Sandwell and joined her husband, Keith Spencer, in GKPartnership Consultancy. In 2005 she took up a part time post as a Partnership Development Manager within the Government's initiative in Physical Education, Sport and Young People national strategy in Staffordshire.

Gina has a wide experience of working both as a professional and as a volunteer, in challenging and changing climates within primary, secondary and special schools, LA's, children's services, primary care trusts, regeneration areas, national organisations and national governing bodies of sport.

She has been an Ofsted Inspector, an Activemark and Sportsmark Validator and an Assessor for a number of national organisations, including, Sport England, the Youth Sport Trust, Sports Coach UK and a number of Governing Bodies. Gina has for many years been a child protection and safeguarding consultant working with many groups to raise awareness of the issues around safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. She is currently supporting schools across the West Midlands with the implementation of the new secondary curriculum.

She is actively involved with her professional association - The Association for Physical Education (afPE) and has recently been elected as a Board member.

She is a current verifier for the Leading Aspect Award.
